Digital Foundry has published a technical analysis of the Nintendo Switch 2 remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, examining its resolution, image quality and performance. The game runs at a variable 1080p to 1440p when docked, while handheld resolution ranges from 720p to 1080p.
Handheld mode also uses some reduced graphical settings, including a shorter draw distance and lower-quality textures. Despite those changes, Digital Foundry describes the image as sharp and visually appealing.
The analysis says Nintendo appears to use FSR rather than DLSS for image upscaling. This can cause flickering and visual fluctuations in some elements, identified as one of the remake’s few areas for improvement.
Performance is a strong point: the game maintains 60 FPS very consistently, although small stutters can occur during some loading sequences. The original Nintendo 64 release ran at 20 FPS, while the Nintendo 3DS version reached 30 FPS.
