Bloober Team plans to keep releasing physical editions of its games for as long as it can, despite the financial and logistical advantages of digital distribution. CEO Piotr Babieno said that owning a boxed game can create a personal connection between players and the studio behind it.

In an interview with GamesRadar, Babieno acknowledged that digital releases are cheaper, more profitable and simpler to manage. But he argued that downloads cannot replace the emotional value of collecting games, adding that physical editions help studios feel closer to their fans.

Tymon Smektała, formerly director of the Dying Light franchise and now CEO of Broken Mirror Games, also spoke in favour of physical releases. He said that, for their generation, being a player was closely tied to being a collector, and highlighted the appeal of box art and manuals.

Bloober Team released Silent Hill 2 Remake physically on PlayStation 5 in 2024. The studio is now working on a remake of the original Silent Hill, which has no release date yet. The report raises the question of whether the project will reach stores before the anticipated end of disc production for Sony’s platform in January 2028.
