Nintendo has shared more details about the development of Ocarina of Time for Switch 2 in its Ask the Developer series, including how it chose the game’s new voice cast. Producer Eiji Aonuma and director HokWai Ng said the team wanted to preserve players’ expectations of how characters sounded in the original.

To focus auditions on the voices rather than the performers’ reputations, Nintendo hid actors’ names during the Japanese casting process. Aonuma said the approach led the team to select an actor who had also appeared in the N64 game, voicing the same character.

Nintendo has not named the actor or character. The report notes speculation that Kaori Mizuhashi, who voiced Navi in the original, could return as the fairy, but that has not been confirmed.
