Digital Foundry’s John Linneman has published a technical assessment of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on Switch 2, praising the remake’s presentation and performance while pointing out a few minor drawbacks.
Resolution ranges from 1080p to 1440p when the console is docked, and from 720p to 1080p in handheld mode. The portable version also uses more aggressive level-of-detail distances and lower-resolution textures, though Linneman describes the overall image as crisp and attractive.
The review says Nintendo appears to have used FSR rather than DLSS for upscaling. The game can show instances of shimmering, but its frame rate is a strong point: the remake targets 60fps and maintains it consistently. The review mentions occasional “very tiny loading hiccups,” with performance otherwise remaining stable.
Linneman also highlights details including environmental fog and the lighting cast by lava in the Fire Temple. Overall, Digital Foundry considers the remake a strong technical effort, with its visual effects and steady performance among its standout features.
