Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds begins its second year with the release of Version 2.0.0 on November 3, 2026. Sonic Global Community Director Aaron Webber outlined a range of additions, changes and improvements planned for the update.

The update introduces Duel Mode, where players race one opponent using the new Duel Boost mechanic. Its options include Rival Duel, Free Match, Best-of-10 Duel Match and Friend Match. The gadget system also gains the Grand Master Plate, which adds a seventh super slot for one-slot gadgets with a boosted effect, alongside 15 new gadgets.

Online play receives PvP balance adjustments affecting gadgets, racing stats, machine types and COM opponents. Rings will also reappear sooner in online mode. World Match adds a free-match option that does not affect rankings, while Rivals can award extra Donpa tickets for wins. The main menu is also being updated to feature the new modes.

Other additions include Play Missions, which offer tickets and medals for completing daily objectives, the Sega Fighting Beats Infinity album and collaboration decals. Players will also get more gadget plates and filters, a gadget bookmarking function, changes to the maximum Likes cap and various bug fixes.

Festival events will run for 10 days, and rankings are changing to Winning Streak Rankings. AI Rival Teams will be available as opponents, with more types of Crowns awarded online.

Year Two will also bring free and paid characters and machines. Bayonetta is the first announced free character, arriving on November 3, followed by McLaren Racing (Sonic) later in November and Aigis in early 2027.
