Pokémon Go’s Wild Area 2026 event will bring several gameplay and customization updates, including private groups for Dynamax Battles and new backgrounds for Trainer profiles. Players will also be able to activate certain Adventure Effects from Raid and Max Battle lobbies, according to the event details announced by the game’s developers.

From the event, Trainers can choose between automatic matchmaking and a private group when entering a Dynamax Battle. Joining an existing private group requires its group code. Selected Adventure Effects will also be available from Raid and Max Battle waiting rooms. Ticket holders at the Sendai and Mexico City in-person events will get access to this feature before other players.

Trainer profiles will be able to display a Pokémon’s location background or special background. The Wild Area 2026 location backgrounds for Sendai and Mexico City become available on November 6 at 10 a.m. local time. The event’s special background, along with previously released location backgrounds, follows on November 9 at 10 a.m. local time. Friends will see a companion Pokémon’s background only once 10 a.m. has arrived in their own time zone.

Ticket holders taking part in the global event can choose a Special Research path focused on Steel- or Dragon-type Pokémon. The research begins November 14 at 10 a.m. local time. After claiming the corresponding event medal, players receive one additional Candy XL when catching powerful Pokémon of their chosen type, if they are level 31 or higher, as well as an extra 1,000 Stardust for each such catch. These bonuses end when the global event finishes on November 15 at 6 p.m. local time. Ticket holders attending the Sendai or Mexico City events can earn both medals, and their bonuses last through the end of the global event.

The free GO Pass: To the Wild offers a purple Wild Area 2026 shirt. Players who upgrade to the paid GO Pass Deluxe can earn Duraludon pants through progression. Both passes run from November 9 at 10 a.m. to November 15 at 6 p.m. local time, and rewards can be claimed until November 17 at 11:59 p.m. The in-game shop will also offer a Duraludon helmet, a Gigantamax Duraludon backpack and a Fighting-type jacket; these items will remain available after the event. Ticket holders who complete the event Special Research at an in-person event or during the global event will receive a new avatar pose.

Pokémon caught using GO Safari Balls can now be transferred to Pokémon HOME, where the balls appear as Strange Balls. The announcement also notes that event ticket add-ons are available for the in-person events and will be active from November 6 through November 8.
