The Ocarina of Time remake has topped Metacritic’s Best Games of 2026 list after earning a Metascore of 96 from 81 critic reviews. It is also ranked 27th on the site’s all-time list, according to the rankings at the time of writing.
The score places the remake ahead of Sektori, which sits second with 93, and Resident Evil 2: Deluxe Edition, also on 93. The Witcher III: Wild Hunt - Remaster is fourth with 92, followed by Big Walk on 91.
Metacritic’s all-time ranking puts the remake above Skyrim, Half-Life, Tears of the Kingdom and Wind Waker. The original Ocarina of Time remains at the top with a score of 99. The remake’s position could change as more reviews are added; games ranked 16th through 34th currently share a score of 96.
The remake is also Metacritic’s highest-rated Switch 2 game so far, ahead of Tears of the Kingdom - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition and Hades II, both on 95, and Breath of the Wild - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, on 94. Its lead in the 2026 rankings may face a challenge from Grand Theft Auto VI, which the source says is due in two weeks.
