The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake is scheduled to launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5. Estimates suggest that completing the updated version could take up to five hours longer than playing the original, depending on how much players explore and which side activities they tackle.
A typical run through the main campaign on Nintendo 64 took between 25 and 30 hours, with puzzle-solving skill affecting the total. Completionists could spend considerably longer collecting all 100 Gold Skulltulas and the Pieces of Heart, finishing the mask-trading sequence, trying activities such as fishing and horseback races, and playing Master Quest.
The remake is expected to preserve the original’s structure while expanding parts of Hyrule and adjusting some areas. New movement options, including manual jumping and sprinting, may also change how players navigate and interact with the world. Together, those changes could encourage more exploration.
Players who investigate the regions and complete the available challenges may need around 30 to 35 hours to reach the end. The remake is described as retaining the original’s central experience rather than adding new story arcs, with the longer estimate attributed to exploration and updated gameplay.
