From Software has officially announced that Duskbloods, the action RPG exclusive to the Switch 2, will be delayed until 2027. The title was initially revealed with a 2026 release window during the console's unveiling Direct in April 2025. In today's confirmation, the developer stated that the additional time is necessary to implement final adjustments regarding game rules and balancing.
The decision follows feedback and data collected from a beta test conducted in August. Reports from the network test highlighted significant issues with the game's mechanics and user experience. Players noted that certain characters and mechanics were disproportionately powerful compared to others, creating an unbalanced environment. Furthermore, the strict time limits and the design of the sigil system proved difficult for players to engage with meaningfully.
Critics of the beta described the experience as a lukewarm death match rather than the intended role-playing adventure. The game's reliance on PvP was emphasized by the fact that resource drops and non-PvP mini-bosses were hoarded by experienced players, effectively blocking alternate progression paths for others. Additionally, the user interface and inventory systems were deemed unintuitive for a time-limited multiplayer setting.
The title is designed as a game-as-a-service with no substantive single-player content, relying entirely on its multiplayer servers. While the concept aimed to blend Soulslike elements with party-style mechanics, the execution resulted in a grind-heavy experience that may only appeal to the most dedicated fans of From Software's previous work.
