Blizzard Entertainment has published a new trailer for World of Warcraft: Forever just days before the game's launch on November 5. The publisher chose a direction far removed from its usual marketing, surprising observers with a traditional 2D animation sequence.

The video's style recalls the opening of a Japanese anime or the fan-made music videos that became popular online in the 2000s. It presents a series of action scenes in which combatants from the Horde and the Alliance fight one another while also facing some of Azeroth's most iconic creatures and dangers. The music selection and visual approach have had a strong impact on social media, earning a positive reception and helping to reignite rivalry between the two factions as launch approaches.

World of Warcraft: Forever is described as an expanded, more elaborate evolution of World of Warcraft Classic. Its main aim is to recover the original essence that made Blizzard's title a reference in the MMORPG genre while adding modernization through new zones, new quest chains, renewed systems and graphical improvements.

In narrative and progression terms, the project returns players to the period when the first version of WoW began, with the maximum character level set again at level 60.
